Food Bank Senior Servings Program Delivers Food To Green Country Seniors

TULSA, Oklahoma -

The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is helping local seniors stretch their grocery dollars even further. The Senior Servings program visited Tulsa's Heritage Landing Monday.

The program provides non-perishable food items, as well as fresh produce and baked goods to low-income seniors at their apartment communities.

The free food is delivered to their doorsteps every two weeks.

"A lot of these seniors are living on a fixed income and groceries are getting more and more expensive, specially the fresh produce items that we want these seniors to have access to, but sometimes their budget doesn't allow for it," said food bank spokesperson Maggie Hoey.

There are similar programs to help feed seniors in Osage, Washington and Nowata counties.
