The case of the so-called "Dirty Dentist" out of Tulsa has regulators looking at their own methods to keep you safe.

Dr. Scott Harrington is accused of potentially exposing 7000 patients to Hepatitis or HIV.

The Oklahoma Board of Dentistry regulates some 2200 dentists and oral surgeons, but only has four employees. Two of them are investigators who are only called out when the board hears a complaint.

The Board of Dentistry says it heard about 120 complaints every year.

The other big project at the board includes paperwork. The board is going through the long process of transferring a backload of paper files into a computer by hand.

The process has taken years. Other Documents are kept inside a storage container out back.

Board Executive Director Susan Rogers says she desperately needs more investigators.

"Hopefully we are going to make some changes that other states will follow," Rogers said.

The Board of Dentistry does not get state funding and raises revenue through license fees.

Rogers says their license rates are far lower that what other states charge.
