TULSA, Oklahoma -

Strong to severe thunderstorms producing large hail are a threat in northeast Oklahoma this evening.

A massive cold front is approaching from the west with a slight risk of severe weather across central and eastern Oklahoma. The risk of tornadoes has been downgraded, according to WARN Team Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer.

The cold front and heavy rains are expected to arrive in the Tulsa area between 10 p.m. and midnight, Meyer said.

"There will be cold rain and miserable weather conditions," he said Tuesday afternoon.

News On 6 will have storm chasers out in western Oklahoma to bring viewers the latest conditions. Some freezing rain is possible, especially west and along the Interstate 35 corridor.

The major impact of the front is said to be freezing rain and sleet. Power outages will be possible in central and north-central Oklahoma.

By 7 a.m. Wednesday, the forecast calls for about 36 degrees, cold and wet conditions.
