A man who witnessed his travel trailer being stolen in northwest Oklahoma City fired a gun in the air to try to stop the suspects from getting away with his property.

On April 5, neighbors called police to the 2400 block of N.W. 1st Street after hearing a disturbance and a gunshot.

The victim told police his trailer was parked in an empty lot he owns behind his house. He, his wife and a neighbor saw a pickup truck occupied by three people circling the block for about 20 minutes. The truck finally stopped along the street. One of the suspects got out and cut the chain link fence around the trailer, creating a large opening. The truck backed into the opening, and a suspect hitched the trailer to it.

The trailer's owner saw what was happening, grabbed a handgun and ran outside. He fired the weapon into the air to scare the suspects. The suspects sped away, dragging the trailer behind the truck.

A police officer spotted the truck a few miles away and stopped the driver. Inside were suspects George Chacon, 18, Enrique Martinez, 36, and Samantha Lovejoy, 31. Police say Lovejoy was holding a jewelry box that contained a baggie of crystal meth.

The victim identified Chacon and Martinez as the men he'd seen stealing his travel trailer. Police arrested all three suspects and booked them into the Oklahoma County jail. Chacon and Martinez were booked on complaints of grand larceny and receiving stolen property. Lovejoy was booked for grand larceny and possession of a controlled, dangerous substance.
