RedHawks Use Terrific Pitching Performance To Down Nashville

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, Tennessee -

Jimmy Paredes homered in the top of the fourth inning to propel the Oklahoma City RedHawks to a 3-1 win over the Nashville Sounds Wednesday night.

The RedHawks were dominant on the mound, using three pitchers to limit the Sounds to just two hits for the game. Jarred Cosart picked up the win, going five innings and allowing just one hit. He walked three batters, but also struck out seven.

Wes Musick pitched three innings of one-hit ball, giving up a single home run to Dayton Buller in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jose Valdez worked the ninth for his second save of the season.

Hiram Burgos took the loss for Nashville, giving up three hits and four walks in addition to the three runs.

Oklahoma City struck first in the top of the third, with Che-Hsuan Lin scoring on a bases-loaded passed ball. In the top of the fourth, Jake Elmore doubled before Paredes blasted a homer to right.

The rest of the game was a pitching duel, as pitchers for both teams retired 21 of the next 22 batters in the game. Besides Buller's home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Sounds never threatened.
