An MSNBC anchor caused controversy with a recent promo. In it she said we have to get past the notion that kids belong to their parents or families, but instead to the entire community. Here's what you had to say about it.
Martin first: "Parents need to be encouraged to take more responsibility for their children. Not be fed some silly notion that their children are everyone's responsibility."
Michael writes: "I think the point of what she said is that the citizens of a country are a shared asset, for better or worse."
And Jill adds: "I think she's just reiterating an earlier message "it takes a village." I don't think kids "belong" to parents, like ownership."
But Wes says: "This isn't about taking care of children, or running businesses. This is about CONTROL! Kelly just who do you think the "community as a whole" will be?"
From Debbie: "I don't see anything here suggesting that parents are not responsible, only that we all should participate."
Howard says: "I hear more socialism at work!"
And Rita says: "She makes me worried!"
Finally Gary writes: "Your children do not belong to you, they belong to US (government) and we will do a better job raising them than you can! Sadly a lot of elected officials would agree."
