Game One

The No. 10 Oklahoma baseball team returned to L. Dale Mitchell Park for the first time in April to take on University of Arkansas-Little Rock, falling to the Trojans 5-2 in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday.

Both teams stayed scoreless until the top of the third when UALR crossed the plate to make the score 1-0 on Bryson Thionnet's RBI-double.

The Trojans added another run in the top of the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly by Chris Burk to gain a two-run advantage.

UALR came out hot in the top of the sixth when they scored three to bring the score to 5-0. Burk hit an RBI-double and Myles Parma followed with a two-run home run to left field.

Oklahoma scored its first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth when Jack Mayfield scored from third on a double play ball.

The Sooners loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with a chance to cut into the lead. OU's Craig Aikin drew a walk to bring in a run with two outs, but the lone run was all Oklahoma could manage.

Junior Matt Oberste led the Sooners' offense going 2-for-3 with a double.

Game Two

Oklahoma got a two-run home run from junior Matt Oberste in the bottom of the ninth, but the Sooners' rally fell short in a 4-3 loss to Arkansas-Little Rock in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Down 4-1 in the bottom of the final inning, Colt Bickerstaff drew a lead-off walk before Oberste smoked a 3-2 pitch over the left field fence for his Big 12-leading ninth home run of the year.

OU (28-10) had three outs to give in the ninth after the home run, but a walk drawn by Anthony Hermelyn was the only base runner the Sooners could manage the rest of the inning.

The Sooners finished with seven hits from six different batters, including two hits from Oberste.

Freshman Craig Aikin had two stolen bases and scored Oklahoma's first run after drawing a walk in the bottom of the sixth. After stealing second and third, Aikin scored on an error by the Trojans to cut UALR's lead in half, 2-1.

UALR (18-18) answered back in the top of the seventh when Bryson Thionnet homered to left field on the inning's first pitch to extend the lead before the Trojans added another run in the ninth that proved to be the game-winning score.

Oklahoma redshirt freshman Adam Choplick was given the loss as the starter for the Sooners to go to 3-1 on the year. Sophomore Robert Tasin led OU with a team-high five strikeouts.

Oklahoma will next play a three-game series this weekend against non-conference opponent New Orleans at Mitchell Park starting Friday, April 19. The game starts at 6:30 p.m.
