OKLAHOMA CITY -

News 9 sources reveal an investigation into a former law enforcement officer turned teacher, who is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

The allegations surfaced at Francis Tuttle Technology Center just this week. The school talked exclusively with News 9's Lisa Monahan about the investigation.

Ken Koch, a spokesperson for Francis Tuttle says this is the first time an allegation of this sort has been brought against an instructor at the career tech.

"Our school administration was informed through email of an accusation of an instructor having an inappropriate relationship with a student," said Koch.

Koch says the administration suspended the instructor in question on Monday, April 15, 2013 pending further investigation. Two days later, on April 17, the instructor submitted his resignation.

"Our first and foremost concern is the safety of our students so as soon as this came to light our administration started looking into it right away," Koch said.

Koch says Francis Tuttle cannot release specifics of the allegation but said, "There is no tolerance for this sort of this thing, if in fact it was taking place."

News 9 sources say the instructor taught courses in safety and security, and is a former law enforcement officer.

"At this point law enforcement is looking into it," Koch added that at least half of those who attend Francis Tuttle are high school students.

Oklahoma County Sheriff Deputies act as school resource officers for Francis Tuttle. News 9 is told if anything happens at the school, the sheriff's office would investigate.

Although Francis Tuttle confirmed the name of the instructor, News 9 is not releasing that information because at this point no one has been arrested or charged.

We were not immediately able to reach the instructor in question for comment on these allegations.
