The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says it has notified Tulsa Police the county jail can once again accept inmates arrested on municipal charges.

In a news release, the sheriff's office says jail population has been reduced to 1,725 inmates.

TCSO says it has worked diligently over the last six days to reduce the population at the jail by more than 250 inmates.

On Friday, April 12, 2013, the sheriff's office notified Tulsa Police it would not take anyone who had been arrested on only municipal charges.

The sheriff's office says maximum capacity of the David L Moss Criminal Justice Center on North Denver is 1,714 inmates.

Last week, jail officials said the facility was in crisis mode with an inmate population of more than 2,000.
