Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla.—Jonathan Gray struck out 10 of the 20 batters he faced and Jack Mayfield blasted a three-run home run in the seventh as No. 10 Oklahoma blew out New Orleans 10-0 Friday at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

Gray (7-1) allowed just two Privateer hits in six innings of work as his fastball continued to peak into the triple digits near the end of his stint.

The Sooners shook up their lineup, putting clean-up hitter Matt Oberste at the leadoff. Oberste scored OU's first run in the bottom of the third and finished the game 3-of-5, adding another run and one RBI.

The Sooners bounced back nicely from a two-game sweep Tuesday against Arkansas-Little Rock, pounding out 13 hits, while the bullpen allowed just two hits and a walk in the final three innings.

Oklahoma scored two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, while Mayfield hit his home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla.—The Oklahoma State Cowboys jumped all over Kansas State early Friday night and carried the big lead to a 9-2 win over the Wildcats.

Robbie Rea was the big hero for the Cowboys, blasting two home runs and driving in three runs. Rea hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning, and then solo home runs in the fifth and seventh innings.

The Cowboys opened the game by scoring four runs on four hits in the bottom of the first inning. OSU tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the third inning, giving the Cowboys a 7-1 lead.

That lead was more than enough for starter Jason Hursh, who scattered 11 hits over seven innings, giving up just two runs two striking out seven. Kansas State starter Joe Flattery took the loss, lasting just 2.1 innings.

The two teams are back in action Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. CST.
