A material witness in the murder of four Tulsa women at the Fairmont Terrace Apartments was arrested Monday evening.
Shalee Owens, 21, was arrested after several failed attempts to contact her and serve her with a subpoena.
Prosecutors say Owens is a material witness to the January murders of 23-year-old twins Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Melchor, 33-year-old Misty Nunley and 55-year-old Julie Jackson. They need Owens to testify at the preliminary hearing for the brothers who are charged in the case, James and Cedric Poore.
According to court records, they need Owens to testify at the preliminary hearing for brothers James and Cedric Poore, who are charged in the case. Records show Owens' testimony will put the suspects at the apartment complex on the day of the murders.
Over the past month, records show Owens avoided several attempts by the District Attorney's office to deliver a subpoena. She had agreed to meet with a DA Victim Witness advocate on April 16, but when an investigator from the DA's Office showed up to pick her up, no one came to the door. Investigators then tried to call her, only to find her phone was no longer in service.
Owens is currently in the Tulsa County jail, held on a $10,000 bond.
