NORMAN, Oklahoma -

No. 1 Oklahoma flexed their offensive muscles Friday night, massacring Iowa State, 24-1, in front of 1,433 fans at Marita Hynes Field.

The 24 runs set a new school record, breaking the old record of 23 runs set back in 2008.

Oklahoma scored 11 runs in the first inning, helped to a degree by four Iowa State errors. The main assist for the night came from the Iowa State pitching staff, which handed out 15 walks to OU batters.

In the second inning, the Sooners scored 12 more runs on just four hits, thanks eight walks. Five of those came with the bases loaded, along with a hit batter with the bases loaded. The Sooners made those hits count in the inning, as Kelley Reeves blasted a grand slam for her first home run of the season and Lauren Chamberlain homered during the very next at-bat.

Shelby Pendley also homered for the Sooners, her 17th of the season. Erica Miller homered in the fourth for Iowa State's lone run of the game.

Leslie Miller picked up the win for Oklahoma while Tori Torrescano took the loss for Iowa State, getting just one out in the first inning.

The two teams are back in action Saturday at noon.
