Two lanes of Interstate 44 southbound in northwest Oklahoma City were shut down for nearly three hours, after authorities say a man jumped off an overpass and was hit by several vehicles.

Two lanes of Interstate 44 southbound in northwest Oklahoma City were shut down for nearly three hours, after authorities say a man jumped off an overpass and was hit by several vehicles.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the center and outside lanes of I-44 southbound, just south of N.W. 23rd Street were shut down just before 8 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities say a man jumped off the overpass, and was struck by several vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The southbound lanes of I-44 reopened just before 11 a.m.

The man's identity has not been released.
