RedHawks Roll New Orleans Behind Powerful Offense

The Oklahoma City RedHawks broke out the bats against New Orleans Saturday night, routing the Zephyrs, 11-1.

The RedHawks were once again aided by terrific pitching and defense, which limited New Orleans to just six hits and stranded 10 New Orleans runners on the bases.

Jordan Lyles picked up the win for the RedHawks, giving up three hits and one run in five innings while striking out four batters. Brian Flynn took the loss for the Zephyrs.

The score could have been much worse in favor of OKC, but the RedHawks stranded 12 runners, despite going 5-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

The RedHawks jumped on top in the bottom of the third on back-to-back RBI doubles from Jake Elmore and Jimmy Paredes. After New Orleans scored a run in the top of the fourth, OKC, extended the lead to 4-1 on a two-run homer from Marc Krauss.

Oklahoma City opened the floodgates in the bottom of the seventh, scoring four runs on three hits. After all three runs were in, the RedHawks loaded the bases thanks to three straight walks, the last of which scored a run.

Oklahoma City poured in on in the eighth, scoring three more runs including a solo home run from Brett Wallace.

The RedHawks look to take the series from the Zephyrs Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m.
