Police have arrested a man accused of shooting a motorcycle shop worker who tried to stop him from stealing an ATV at a southwest Oklahoma City store.

According to police, officers responded to the shooting at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at JRT Cycle Shop on S.W. 29th near Agnew.

Police say a cycle shop employee saw a man trying to steal a four-wheeler, and when he confronted him, the suspect shot the employee. There were people inside the shop who witnessed the shooting.

"He was shot in the hip area," said Milton Oliva. "He was still walking around. He was limping. He told me to call the ambulance."

The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition, but is expected to recover.

When officers arrived, a resident flagged them down to say a man was trying to get inside his home to hide.

That man took off running, but officers were able to catch him. The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Michael Ruoff. He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail.
