Just a quick update. Looks like we have tied the record for coolest daytime high this afternoon as so far the temperature has topped out at 51. The previous record for this particular date is 51 set back in 1935.

Looking ahead it does not appear that we will have any more record setting low temperatures as a moderating trend will begin on Sunday and will be even more noticeable for much of the coming week. Temperatures are expected to be at or above normal through at least the middle part of the week.

By the way, the normal temperature range for this time of year is 77/56 for the high low respectively and so far the extremes for today have been 51/40. The map on the right, courtesy of the OK Mesonet shows how much warmer the SW corner of the state was today as they had sunny skies pretty much all day long. With at least some sunshine expected for Sunday and lots more for Monday, we will see warmer, more spring-like weather around here as well.

Along with the warmer weather comes a chance of more in the way of Spring-like storms, particularly for the Thu-Fri time frame. A cool front still looks to be on schedule to arrive sometime during the day Friday followed by somewhat cooler conditions for the coming weekend. Nothing like what we have experienced lately though.

Since this is May, that by itself implies that some of the storms may be severe; a slight chance may occur as early as Wednesday and better chances for Thu/Fri.

So, stay tuned and check back for updates.

Further update:  After this was posted, additional data came in that pushed our daytime high to 52, so did not tie the record after all.
