Salt Lake Snaps Oklahoma City's 11-Game Home Winning Streak

Posted: Updated:

The Oklahoma City RedHawks saw their 11-game home winning streak come to an end, falling to the Salt Lake Bees, 6-4 Saturday night.

The RedHawks stage a four-hit, three-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning, but left the bases loaded when Brandon Laird flied out to end the game.

Billy Buckner picked up the win for Salt Lake, scattering eight hits and three runs over eight innings of work. Buckner struck out four and also walked four. Ross Seaton took the loss for Oklahoma City while Mitch Stetter got the last out for his second save of the season.

The Bees got the scoring started in the top of the second when Matt Long led off the inning with a home run to right field. The Bees tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning, one on a fielder's choice RBI groundout from Matt Young with runners on second and third, and the other one a single from Jimmy Swift that scored a runner from third.

The RedHawks finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth, when Che-Hsuan Lin lifted a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Marc Krauss from third base.

The Bees responded with a run in the sixth and two more runs in the seventh to carry a 6-1 lead into the ninth inning.

Krauss singled to start the RedHawks rally and Carlos Perez followed with a walk. After Andrew Simunic struck out, Lin homered to left center field to cut the lead to 6-4, but that's as much as the RedHawks could muster.

The series continues tomorrow from Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
