A hit-and-run car accident killed one teenager a Saturday night in southwest Oklahoma City. Police say the 16-year-old boy was riding his bike around 11 p.m. when the car hit him.

Neighbors in the area were shocked and saddened by the death of a young man right before Mother’s Day. His identity has not been released.

“A young man between the age of 16 and 18 was hit. He was on a bicycle riding home from burger king after work,” Dilbert Rogalsky said. He was home when the accident happened.

Rogalsky and his wife heard the impact from inside their home. When they went out to see what happened, police were already responding to the scene.

Homeowners in the area say the stretch of May Avenue between SW 44th Street and SW 59th Street is notorious for speeding cars because there are no stop lights or stop signs.

Oklahoma City police were still searching for the driver that hit the boy. They think they located the car involved but the driver was already gone. Anyone with information on the deadly hit and run should contact the Oklahoma City Police Department.
