Charges have been filed against a man arrested earlier this month after holding a woman and 2-year-old child captive in a Broken Arrow home during a nearly six-hour standoff.

John Pruner, 32, is charged with kidnapping, first degree rape, assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, sexual battery, and domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor child.

Police went to the home in the 2900 block of North 22nd Street on May 5, 2013, in response to a domestic assault and battery call. When officers arrived, a woman in the home told officers by cell phone, if they didn't go away, Pruner was going to kill everyone inside.

The woman managed to escape, leaving Pruner inside with a toddler, whom he also eventually released, apparently unharmed, police said.

After nearly six hours, police used a flash bang to enter the home and take Pruner into custody.

Pruner remains in the Tulsa County jail.
