Rain and thunderstorms are increasing across southern Oklahoma ahead of a mid-level disturbance. As this feature tracks across Oklahoma today, additional showers and thunderstorms are likely, especially east of I-35 and south of I-40 including the OKC metro area.

Best timing for showers and storms will be during the peak heating of the day lasting into the evening hours. The overall severe threat remains low due to extensive cloud cover, but it is May in Oklahoma, so a few strong to severe storms are still possible.

There will be another slight chance of thunderstorms over the weekend, but widespread coverage is not expected. Even though the chance of storms is low, any that do develop Saturday or Sunday will likely be severe.

Our next widespread chance of rain and storms will occur next Monday.
