I have been bombarded with angry posts and emails from parents, teachers and students at Oklahoma City's two premier high schools Classen School of Advanced Studies and Harding Prep after my commentary Tuesday night.

They were furious that I dared to say it is wrong that highly sought after spots at these schools have gone to students who don't even live in the Oklahoma City Public School district.

Well, it came out at the last school board meeting, that there might be as many as 1,000 students who don't live in the Oklahoma City school district, but have transferred to Oklahoma City schools under the Open Transfer policy.

And guess which schools they're enrolling in? You know it, the best schools; Charter middle schools and high schools, magnate schools, performing arts and specialty schools.

You remember Maps for Kids don't you? It is the seven-year temporary sales tax to redo all the OKC schools and regenerate the district so that families would start moving back in from the suburbs.

But under "Open Transfer" they don't have to move back in to go to premier schools. It's completely counter to what the district and city leaders hoped to accomplish with Maps for Kids.

We'll hear your thoughts on "open transfer" in Oklahoma City, Thursday night.
