News 9 Helps OKC Family Find Owner Of '72 Choctaw Class Ring

An Oklahoma City family turned to the public to help solve a mystery surrounding a class ring.

Robin Rincon and her husband were digging in their garden last Sunday, when Robin says her husband dug up a ring. It's a 1972 Choctaw High School Senior Class ring.  

"He said he hit something or the other. Then he looked down in the dirt and he seen [sic] this ring," Robin said. 

The initials W.R. and H. are engraved on the inside of the ring. 

News 9 went to Choctaw High School Friday. A very kind woman in the counseling office there told us there was a Wayne Robert Huston who graduated from Choctaw in 1972. She also found a 1972 Yellowjacket yearbook.  

In that yearbook we found a photo of Wayne Robert Huston going up for a rebound during a basketball game. However, there is no other mention of Huston in the yearbook. He was not included in the basketball team photo, and his senior class picture was not found with his classmates.   

Late Friday night, News 9 received a call from a man named Archie Huston. He said his cousin Wayne Robert Huston, an Army veteran who served in Vietnam, died from cancer in 2004. He's buried in Choctaw. News 9 plans to return the class ring to his family.
