Strong winds caused massive damage in northwest Oklahoma City Saturday night, knocking out power to 25,000 customers.

The damage is primarily along N.W. Pennsylvania Avenue between N.W. 150th Street and Memorial Road. The storm snapped power poles in two, leaving downed lines for approximately one mile along Penn Avenue.

"The winds picked up," said Sean Chase, who lives at the Quail Springs Condominiums. "Before I knew it, all these telephone poles started coming down like dominoes."

Like others who live around here, Chase heard the storm blow through, and then with daylight, saw the damage.

"I come out here this morning to take a walk to McDonald's and everything is shut down," said Jazmine Cole, who was home with her baby when the storm hit. "I'm a little overwhelmed with it all. I didn't think it did this, I honestly didn't think it did all of this."

She wasn't the only one amazed. Many people came out to see the damage firsthand and take a few pictures.

As of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, only 2,322 customers are without power, including residents at the Quail Springs Condominiums and the Residence of North Penn.

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania Avenue between Memorial Road and N.W. 150th Street remains closed until crews can get the lines cleaned up.
