Several Oklahoma Groups Get Literacy Grants From Dollar General

Dollar General's Literacy Foundation has awarded two Tulsa organizations just over $15,000 for improving literacy and education.

The foundation says the YWCA of Tulsa and Tulsa's Community Action Project have been given $8,000 and $7,500 respectively.

"At Dollar General, we are passionate about our mission of Serving Others throughout the communities we serve," said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General's chairman and CEO. "It's exciting to see the Dollar General Literacy Foundation's outreach in action as we partner with organizations to further education and literacy and make a real difference in people's lives."

The foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Since its inception in 1993, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded more than $81 million in grants to nonprofit organizations.

Also getting awards in eastern Oklahoma were the Bartlesville Adult Learning Center, the Wagoner Library Friend Corporation and the GED Program of the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma.
