Heavy rain and high winds continue Tuesday for some parts of eastern Oklahoma. The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Ottawa County and a flash flood warning through Wednesday evening (or until canceled) for the following counties:

  • Haskell
  • Latimer
  • La Flore
  • McIntosh
  • Muskogee
  • Pittsburg
  • Sequoyah

A flash flood watch has been issued for several eastern Oklahoma counties until 7 p.m. Tuesday:

  • Adair
  • Cherokee
  • Haskell
  • Latimer
  • Le Flore
  • McIntosh
  • Muskogee
  • Pittsburg
  • Sequoyah

Showers and thunderstorms are continuing across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas as a slow moving cold front meets with warm air. Rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches are possible Tuesday in the watch area.

Remember, do not drive a vehicle into areas where water covers the road. Low water crossings in hill terrain are especially dangerous. It only takes two feet of rushing water to carry away most sport utility vehicles and pickups. It only takes a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry smaller vehicles away.
