OKLAHOMA COUNTY, Oklahoma -

One person was killed and another one was critically injured following a collision involving a semi-truck on Interstate 44 in Oklahoma County early Saturday morning.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, it happened just after midnight, in the southbound lanes of I-44, about 750 feet north of I-40 in Oklahoma County.

A 2006 Freightliner semi-truck driven by 34-year-old Abdulfatah Mohamed Ahmed was southbound on I-44 in the turning lane to I-40 eastbound, when it swerved onto the inside lane.

The semi then struck a 1995 Toyota Corolla driven by 25-year-old Kendale Edward Packer, causing the Corolla to go under the trailer of the semi. The Corolla was southbound on I-44 in the inside lane at the time of the collision, according to the OHP collision report.

The passenger in the Corolla, 26-year-old Bibian Villanueva, was trapped inside the car for about two hours until the Medical Examiner arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi-truck driven by Ahmed continued southbound on I-44. However, a witness followed the semi-truck, and troopers were able to locate the semi based on the information the witness provided.

Ahmed was not injured. Packer was transported to the hospital in critical condition, suffering from head, internal, arms, and leg injuries.

While the Corolla was stopped in the outside and center lanes, a 2005 Dodge Magnum driven by 25-year-old Juan Anthonio Davila-Valdez struck the Corolla on the passenger side. The Dodge Magnum was going southbound on I-44 in the center lane at that time.

Davila-Valdez suffered minor injuries and was treated and released.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
