On a day dedicated to our veterans there may not be a more spectacular site than Old Glory. This Memorial Day, the wind made for quite the picture at Broken Arrow's Floral Haven Cemetery, as thousands of American flags billowed in the background of families remembering their loved ones.

"It's just like being in heaven almost," said Barbara Meyer.

It's a breath taking site for Barbara and thousands of Oklahomans. Meyer is visiting her husband, buried in Floral Haven's Veteran's Field of Honor.

"To come out here and see everybody like this, I just can't explain it," said Barbara Meyer.

In the center of the Field of Honor, dedicated to our military men and women, stands the Veteran's Carillon tower, where the names of the veterans lost this year were read aloud.

Will Wilson, an Air Force veteran, has been at Floral Haven each of the last four days.

"I just enjoy coming out and looking at the flags and seeing what's going on," said Will Wilson, US Air Force veteran.

But it holds an even deeper meaning for Wilson; to find that out you need only look across from him.

"I'm really proud that I've gotten to make this place my final resting place," said Will Wilson.

It's at that very spot that he's meeting Purple Heart recipient Charles Scott for the first time. Scott's spent his entire life in the service. He was at Floral Haven visiting men who shared that passion, defending what matters most to a solider.

"And all these guys here defended the Constitution, it's pretty simple," said Charles Scott, Vietnam veteran.

At Floral Haven there are 3,169 flags, each one of them a casket flag donated by the family, to be flown in their soldier's honor.

"That's 3,200 people, men and women, that wrote you a blank check," said Charles Scott. A check worth the freedoms we take for granted, willingly offered by men like Scott, who understand the true meaning of Memorial Day.

"We don't speak German, we don't speak Japanese, we speak English," said Charles Scott.

At the end of the day, the 3,169 flags were retired by the Boy Scouts of America.
