MOORE, Oklahoma -

A pet timber-wolf, rescued by Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputies after a massive tornado swept through Moore on May 20, is now recovering from its injuries.

According to the Sheriff's Office, as deputies responded to the Moore area following the tornado, they found the animal in critical condition in the rubble.

Deputies say the wolf named "Tala" suffered massive internal injuries from a wood board that entered and exited her abdomen.

Dr. Bugg is a member of the OCSO Special Operations Team and has received training to stabilize K-9's if needed.

"I had to re-insert the dogs intestines back into her", said Dr. Bugg. "I was able to stop the bleeding at the scene and closed the wound on her nose."

The deputies and nurse stabilized "Tala" and covered her with foil blankets. The deputies didn't have much time to follow through with the wolf as they were asked to assist with a call of a woman who was trapped nearby, according to the Sheriff's Office.

"We have some incredible people who serve the public", said Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel. "Our deputies assisted with many rescues following the Moore tornado, in addition to people they were able to assist many animals as well".

Dr. Bugg found out that "Tala" had been transported to Boyer Veterinary Clinic in Oklahoma City. Deputies say "Tala" has made a significant recovery.
