NOBLE, Oklahoma -

No storm warnings or tornado sirens can save some of the smallest storm victims. Wildlife are injured, by the dozens, in every storm.

More than 500 misplaced animals have been brought to Wildcare in Noble. They are some of the most unexpected victims of the storms.

In Friday's storms, Oklahoma City Police Master Sergeant Jeff Tanksley found something to feel good about.

"The first thing I thought was he got swept downstream," he said.

Tanksley found the one week old fawn on Sunday, two days after flood waters rushed through the metro. He was wandering and looking for food.

Tanksley brought the tiny storm survivor to Wildcare - a non-profit that works to rehabilitate and eventually release the animals back into the wild. Rondi Large is caring for the fawn and 540 birds, raccoons, skunks and other injured wildlife from the storms.

The folks at Wildcare say if you find misplace animals make sure to use gloves and towels to not get bitten and first and foremost call Wildcare at (405) 872-9338 to make sure you are handling the wildlife properly.
