Your 2 Cents: What We Learned During Friday's Storms

My commentary on Friday's storm coverage, and being personally responsible for your safety, left some of you criticizing me for briefly mentioning that another station recommended fleeing the storm in your car if you couldn't get underground.

My commentary on Friday's storm coverage, and being personally responsible for your safety, left some of you criticizing me for briefly mentioning that another station recommended fleeing the storm in your car if you couldn't get underground. And yet that's about all you wanted to talk about...

Rob writes: "Kinda disappointed you threw the ‘other media outlet' under the bus."

And Kathryn added: "It is unprofessional and beneath you."

After much thought, I decided it was dishonest to talk about the events of Friday night, and not address an issue so many of you obviously are talking about.

Patrick wrote: "As usual...a very good concise statement that says it all!"

J from Bethany says: "We were watching [channel 9] on [Friday], but we got frustrated listening to storm chasers talk over each other. Couldn't understand what was happening. Switched to [channel 4] and unfortunately took their advice to leave."

Debbie says: "I think he was referring to the people already in their vehicles, to go south."

Meagan writes: "I love both 4 and 9, and think you have all exhausted every effort to keep us safe."

Marci says: "It is our responsibility to have our own severe weather plan. However, another channel was giving wrong information that…caused gridlock on the Interstates."

Jeanette writes: "Unless you are new to the area, there is no excuse not to have a plan."

And finally Rachel writes: "Quit waiting till the last minute to make a decision. You can't do that here."

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's YOUR 2 Cents.
