A Ponca City man was killed Friday night when he tried to make a U-turn on Highway 60, just east of Indian Hills Road.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a pickup truck, driven by Andrew Carson Ancell, 44, turned from the shoulder of the eastbound lane, right in front of a semi truck.

Troopers report the semi, driven by Randy Allan Bailey, 33, of Garber, struck the pickup truck, causing it to spin twice on its wheels.

Ancell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the OHP report, was ejected from the truck and thrown about 75 feet. He died at the scene.

His truck went on to hit Grace Ann Batt, 64, who was on a lawn mower in the right-of-way on the north side of the highway. OHP says she was treated for leg injuries at a nearby hospital and released.

The driver of the semi refused treatment at the scene.

Troopers determined the cause of the collision to be the improper U-turn.
