OKLAHOMA CITY -

A man is still shaken up, Saturday night, after finding a body in a sleeping bag near his home in south OKC.

Police still don't know who the victim is or how they died. News 9's Heather Hope spoke to the man who made that gruesome discovery.

Walking to his car headed to work Friday morning, Steve Hayeslit saw a big blue sleeping bag leaning on the fence by a dumpster near his apartment off I-240. Hayeslit hoped it was just trash, but when he saw the bag later that evening, he knew it was much more.

"I walked back over here. I saw it and I kept looking at it, and I just nudged it right here, and I said ‘Yeah, it is what I think it is,'" Hayeslit said.

There was a body inside the sleeping bag, so Hayeslit called police.

"Due to the condition of the body, we cannot tell a gender, a race or the approximate age at this point," said Capt. Dee Patty of the Oklahoma City Police Dept.

Police combed the scene for hours Friday night. Hayeslit, who has lived in Meadow Park Apartments for 10 years, says he just wants peace of mind.

"I was kind of shaken up a little bit, you know because not every day you're going to see that. But now it kind of turns to anger that somebody would just dispose of somebody right there," Hayeslit said. "And I now feel it's kind of connected to me, and I'm really hoping we find who did this. I take it personally now like it's my own child, my own mother, my own father."

Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation. The Medical examiner has not yet released the cause of death.
