We're uncovering new details in the tragic death of a 7 year old who died in a house fire after he was left home alone.

Right now, a woman and her boyfriend are in jail for his murder.

Roberto Avalos' body was found April 28 in a burned home on S.W. 51st Street near Villa. Police say the boy's mother had left Roberto alone; and while the child was sleeping, Paulina Cruz and her boyfriend, Julio Nevarez, broke into the house.

News 9 Crime Tracker Adrianna Iwasinski has the search warrants that reveal Cruz confessed to being responsible for Roberto's death. The documents state Cruz was angry because she claims her ex-husband had not been paying child support.

That ex-husband was living with Roberto's mother at the home in the 2500 block of S.W. 51st Street.

According to the search warrant, the witness said, "Cruz planned the burglary to steal money, drugs and anything of value from the residence." Cruz also reportedly told the witness, "the fire was set to cover up fingerprints inside the house."

According to that same witness, Nevarez, who is Cruz's current boyfriend, sold some of the property taken in the burglary. Detectives also recovered a television and computer stolen from the S.W. 51st Street home, at Nevarez's parents' home.
