New Year's Eve 2012 is a holiday Levi Warren will never forget. That's the day Levi was diagnosed with stage 2 testicular cancer.

Two days later, Levi Warren underwent emergency surgery.

During his recovery, Levi's insurance company suddenly dropped him, and even after talking with three different lawyers, the insurance company would not cover the medical bills.

"They came up with reasons to not cover him anymore, and they basically ended up telling us that he didn't cross his T's and dot his I's. So, they didn't cover him, and we had to self-pay," said Ashley Parenti, Levi's girlfriend of then just six months. That's about the time Levi started his first round of chemotherapy that lasted for four months.

"With not having the money to front for it, it was going to be close to $2,000 a day for insurance," said Ashley Parenti.

Levi and his family are now faced with about $100,000 in medical bills.

Parenti, along with Levi's friends and family and Turn Tulsa Pink, think they've figured out a way to help raise money.

They're hosting a golf tournament this weekend.

Right now, they have 17 teams registered, but they're hoping many more will want to participate.

"[We're] hoping that this will do enough to raise enough money to at least put a dent in it. I don't know if we could raise what our goal is because that's a lot of money," said Ashley Parenti.

The good news is Levi is now in remission. He was declared cancer-free on May 20, 2013.

"Now that this is over, now that he's finally cancer free, we're able to start moving forward and start moving on with our life. And if we can just put this debt behind us, then we're hoping we'll be able to start with a clean slate," said Ashley Parenti.

The tournament is Saturday at the Canyons at Blackjack Ridge in Sand Springs. Tee time is 8 a.m. Registration is $125, and it all goes towards Levi's medical bills.

To sign up your four-person team, you can call 918-280-8232, or go to www.golfagainstcancer.org. Levi's friends and family have also set up a contribution page - www.gofundme.com/LeviWarrenCancerSurvivor.
