MOORE, Oklahoma -

The Satterlee family got Gypsy the day they moved into their Moore home. They had thought they lost her when the tornado destroyed it.

"There's a tiny part of me that just wanted to hang on and keep looking for her because she's our family, we've had her eight years and she's part of us and we weren't complete without her," said Misty Satterlee.

Even three weeks to the day after the tornado hit as Misty was showing her brother from out of town her house, she still hadn't entirely given up hope.

"When I got back over here I decided to call one more time for her and I just barely heard a little meow," said Satterlee.

They knocked a hole in the wall and discovered Gypsy was indeed alive.

Her family now believes Gypsy crawled into a hole under the sink to seek shelter and may have been there ever since.

Moore firefighters would come to Gypsy's rescue, and were able to pull her from the wall.

She was thin, but after a trip to the vet that included an IV to help with dehydration, Gypsy will be just fine.

"I'm so happy to have her back, our family's complete now," said Misty.

Because the house no longer has much of a roof, Gypsy's family believes she was able to get rain water to drink. She could have left her hiding spot to get something to eat, but because she was so thin, her family isn't sure if she did.
