Body Of 19-Year-Old Drowning Victim From Spiro Recovered In Arkansas

The body of a 19-year-old drowning victim from Spiro was discovered Tuesday in Mulberry, Arkansas, a station in Fort Smith reports.

Police say Timothy Thompson disappeared while swimming in the Mulberry River Monday night with two friends.

Divers searched until it got too dark. They picked it back up Tuesday morning and were determined to find Thompson for his family.

"The family indicated that they definitely wanted to find their boy," explained Mulberry Police Chief Shannon Gregory told CBS-affiliate KFSM in Fort Smith. "I hope it brings closure to the family and puts them a little bit at peace."

Thompson's body is now at the medical examiner's office in Crawford County, authorities said.
