ROGERS COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Two passengers in a Ford Fiesta were transported to hospital on Wednesday after they collided with a semi. During the wreck's cleanup, another car sped through the scene and crashed into a wrecker.

The first collision happened about 7:30 a.m.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the driver of the Fiesta -- Rocky Walker, 35, of Hulbert -- was crossing U.S. 412 at 265th East Avenue and failed to yield to an oncoming semi.

OHP said Walker and his mother, Lennel Walker, 62, were both awake and communicating.

Rocky Walker was treated and released from a Tulsa hospital. His mother was admitted in critical condition with head, trunk internal and trunk external injuries, according to the OHP report.

The semi driver, Mark Mitchell, 38, of Pawnee, was not injured, but his truck and trailer ended up on its side and his load of wheat emptied in the ditch.

A second collision occurred around 8:30 a.m., when a westbound car on U.S. 412 barreled through the emergency scene and hit one of the wreckers.

An investigating trooper said the driver of the second car was distracted and traveling highway speed when she crashed.

She was transported by ambulance, but there is no word on her condition.

"We're very fortunate," trooper Matt Logsdon said. "If I had to say anything, people that are out driving -- pay attention. If you see a collision scene, if you see emergency lights -- slow down. Don't pay attention to the scene. Pay attention to what's going on in front of you.

"Because one of these workers, troopers, the wrecker driver, even the media that's out here, could have gotten run over and killed today because of what that lady was doing. She wasn't paying attention. She very well could have killed any one of us."

Her identity has not been released, pending identification of next of kin.

Editor's note: A previous headline on this story incorrectly identified the first car as a Toyota Prius. It was a Ford Fiesta.
