TULSA, Oklahoma -

An early-morning car crash at 11th Street and Memorial Road in Tulsa has claimed the life of a teenager.

Police have identified the teen as Caleb Elliott.

Officers at the scene said it was the victim's 16th birthday, but later announced it was his 15th birthday.

Police said a silver car, driven by the boy's mother, and a black truck approached the intersection at about 5 a.m. on Thursday.

The mother told police her car stalled going northbound on Memorial. She told police the truck, which was traveling westbound on 11th Street, ran a red light and T-boned her car on its passenger side.

Police are still investigating the cause of the collision. There are no known witnesses.

Both drivers were transported to hospitals. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the identities of the drivers.

Eastbound traffic on 11th Street and westbound traffic on Memorial were down to one lane and the other lanes were closed for more than four hours.

By 9 a.m., all lanes were reopened.
