OKLAHOMA CITY -

One woman is in critical condition and a man is behind bars after witnesses told police the suspect attacked the woman with a brick Thursday night in southwest Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City police officers were originally called around 8:30 p.m. to the 5400 block of Shartel Avenue. Police say during a dispute, a man threw a brick at his girlfriend. The woman flagged down a passing driver for help, but when police arrived, the woman refused treatment.

Later, just before 10p.m., EMSA was called back to the scene. Emergency workers say the woman was transported to a local hospital and is now in critical condition.

Police arrested the man and booked him into the Oklahoma County jail. Police have not released the names of the suspect or the victim.
