OKLAHOMA CITY -

A wanted man is behind bars, Wednesday night, accused of killing a woman and setting her body on fire in a car.

News 9 has been following this case since the beginning. The disturbing crime happened back in March. We are told that woman was at the center of a fight at a NW Oklahoma City bar that led to a man's death. When she went to apologize to that man's family for what happened, she ended up dead herself.

It was just before midnight Tuesday night that OKC police pulled over a car near SW 44th and May Ave. on a routine traffic stop. The driver had a taillight out. When the officer ran a search on both people in the car, they found 31-year-old Ernest Williams, who had a warrant out for murder and arson and for desecrating a human body.

Police say Williams is accused of killing 26-year-old Laquisha Towers at the Willow Cliff Apartments back on March 2. That's where police found a car in flames. Inside police found her body in the driver's seat.

As it turns out, Towers had been at the center of an argument that took place at The Office nightclub near NW 63rd and May Ave. that night.

A man who tried to intervene was stabbed to death. Police identified him as Raheem Murphy. A search warrant released back in April reveals Towers felt like it was her fault that Murphy was killed, so she went to where he lived at the Willow Cliff Apartments.

Police responded there twice that night; Once for a shooting, the other the car fire. Court records state the car was registered to Towers, who was later reported missing. The search warrant also states police found six spent shell casings and fire damage to a nearby apartment that murphy shared with his family.

Inside, Investigators found several areas of the carpet had blood stains and that the carpet had been cut out and removed. The search warrant states detectives believe the apartment is a crime scene where Towers was possibly killed and that the subjects set the fire to destroy possible evidence.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's report shows Tower's probable cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and that she also had significant burns to her body. She had a total of nine gunshot wounds to the body and had also been shot once in the head.

Williams is being held without bond in the Oklahoma County jail.
