The Cleveland County Sheriff's Department says they've arrested four suspected looters in the past four days in tornado-ravaged Newalla.

Scotty Ash and his Nephew Johnny Dale Ash were arrested Tuesday morning next to Woodside Drive.  A Sheriff's spokesperson says the Ash's had loaded several hundred dollars' worth of scrap metal from a nearby pile of tornado debris.

The Sheriff's Department says the Ash's admitted to the arresting deputy they'd been picking through debris for the past week, and selling it for profit.  However, Ash family friend Chantelle Prough says property owners had given written permission.

"People are giving us permission to haul stuff off because it's not getting done fast enough out here," she said.

Sheriff's Spokesperson Meghan McCormick says the Ash brothers could not prove they had permission from anyone.
