TULSA, Oklahoma - A new laser that can cut through a tooth is changing the way dentists treat cavities.

Tulsa dentist Dr. Neil Hasty is one of nine dentists in Green Country who are using the Waterlase.

It's a tool that has only been on the market for about a year and a half. It sounds like science fiction, but it can actually vaporize part of your decayed tooth, instead of clearing it out with a dental drill.

Dr. Hasty says the Waterlase eliminates the need for a mouth-numbing shot.
