RedHawks Get Come-From-Behind Win Over Isotopes

The Oklahoma City RedHawks overcame an early deficit, scoring four unanswered runs in a 4-3 win against the Albuquerque Isotopes Tuesday in front of a crowd of 4,102 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Albuquerque (48-38) took a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning before the RedHawks (45-40) scored twice in the bottom of the first and fifth innings in the win that tied the series, 1-1.

Brandon Laird and Jose Martinez led the RedHawks with two hits each and George Springer added two RBI. Laird has now hit safely in a season-high eight consecutive games. Dee Gordon had two hits and Justin Sellers had a game-high three RBI for Albuquerque.

The Isotopes built an early lead. Three-straight walks by Oklahoma City pitcher Asher Wojciechowski to start Tuesday's game loaded the bases for the Isotopes before a bases-clearing double on a line drive to center field by Justin Sellers put Albuquerque ahead, 3-0, in the first.

Oklahoma City picked up five hits in the bottom of the first inning, including four straight. Jonathan Villar stole third base for his league-leading 28th stolen base this season, then scored on a single by Springer. With the bases loaded, Jon Singleton's RBI single to right field cut the Isotopes' lead to one run.

In the fifth inning, Laird hit a double to left field to bring home Grossman and tie the game. Springer later grounded out and scored Villar for the RedHawks' first lead of the night, 4-3.

In the top of the ninth inning, pinch runner Elian Herrera advanced to second on a throwing error by RedHawks pitcher Josh Zeid and advanced to third when Matt Angle grounded out as the Isotopes threatened late with two outs. Zeid then struck out Alex Castellanos to end the game.

Wojciechowski (4-4) settled in after the first inning and recorded the win, allowing three runs on three hits, walking a season-high six and striking out five in 6.0 innings. Zeid was credited with his eighth save of the season, allowing one hit and striking out one in 1.0 inning.

Albuquerque starter Rob Rasmussen (0-2) took the loss after giving up four runs, seven hits, walking two and striking out six in 5.0 innings.

Oklahoma City ended a two-game losing skid and remains 3.5 games behind first-place Round Rock in the Pacific Coast League American Southern Division, while Albuquerque dropped to second place with the loss and now sits one game behind Round Rock.

Oklahoma City's three-game series against Albuquerque concludes with a 7:05 p.m. game and Independence Day Celebration Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
