1 Dead In Crash That Shut Down Broken Arrow Expressway Westbound

One person is dead and another was taken to the hospital after a crash on Highway 51.

The crash shut down the westbound lanes between Kenosha and Elm for about two hours Wednesday afternoon.

An SUV crashed and overturned in the westbound lanes of the highway.

Police say the driver veered off the road and over corrected, hitting a concrete barrier. The SUV then rolled, ejecting the passenger.

Broken Arrow Police say the passenger died at the scene and the driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The roadway opened again around 5:30 p.m.

Police are not releasing the identities of those involved in the crash until their families have been notified.
