EDMOND, Oklahoma -

Property owners in an Edmond neighborhood are livid with OG&E, because they say OG&E has been cutting down too many trees.

The dispute involves the Cedar Ridge Neighborhood, which was hit especially hard by the May 19th tornado.

Angie Carothers says OG&E crews have chopped down five trees in her backyard in the past week. She says she fears the utility plans to cut down another five trees as well.

One of her neighbors tells News 9 OG&E has cut down eight of his backyard trees in the past few days, and he fears they're not through as well.

OG&E says it has legal authority in the way of a 60-year-old easement that allows them to trim trees that are within 30 feet of each side of power lines in the area.

"We know people live their tree's," OG&E Spokesman Brian Alford said. "But when you look at the amount of damage done in this section of the line by the tornado, it was substantial," he said.

One of the other complaints by homeowners here is OG&E has been cutting down trees that aren't within that 30 foot zone on each side of the power lines.
