OKLAHOMA CITY -

Good News to report Thursday night on that stolen Shriner train. Investigators found at least part of it Thursday afternoon.

The four train cars were found sitting in the backyard of a house in the 2700 block of SW 45th underneath a tarp.

Two Oklahoma City officers were looking for a man who had a warrant out for his arrest. One officer went the front of the house. When the other went to the back, he made the discovery.

"Saw a tarp and saw a clown face," said Detective Scott Wilson. "He knew I was working the locomotive theft and he called me up."

Wilson had been working the case since the train was stolen in the early morning hours of the 4th of July. It belongs to some Shriners from Mustang that were planning to drive it in the Edmond Parade. It was parked in front of Calvin Gamble's house when the thieves took it.

"He told me to meet him over here and identify it and sure enough that's them," said Gamble Thursday. "[It is] kind of hard to miss them."

Wilson says it appears the thieves were trying to dismantle the cars and sell it for scrap metal, but officers discovered it before too much damage was done.

"I'm excited to get the four cars back," said Gamble.

"We're really happy when we recover people's property. Especially innocent victims who there's no business for someone to take their stuff."

The train is still missing the engine, a decorated lawnmower that pulls it. The trailer that the train was on is also still missing. The truck that was pulling the trailer was recovered earlier this week.
