A man wanted for questioning in the shooting of a 5-year-old boy turned himself in to police Monday night.

An arrest warrant was issued for Kenneth Jones, 20. Police said he was charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting Saturday night of a 5-year-old boy at Whispering Pines Apartments on Fairmont Street in Muskogee.

Witnesses said they saw a man shoot into a silver car at the complex. The boy, who was in the car with his mother, was hit in the back.

At last check, the boy was in stable condition at a Tulsa hospital.

Muskogee Police said Jones surrendered without incident Monday night around 8:15. They said he would be booked into the Muskogee County jail on that assault with a deadly weapon charge.
