OKLAHOMA CITY -

Thunderstorms on Tuesday night brought heavy rain and strong winds into the metro, causing power outages and damage. One young mother was at home in her apartment when her ceiling came crashing down on top of her.

"I heard him say there's a second wave hit. And the next thing I know, I'm on the couch underneath everything," recalled Kendra Scott, who is nine months pregnant.

Scott and her boyfriend Branddon Jones spent their morning rummaging through the insulation and sheet rock that covered their living room when their ceiling caved in. They tried to salvage what they could after the storm.

"It just buried us and we just looked up and everything was gone. Just a huge hole," said Jones.

Scott said the roof collapse has put extreme stress on her and her boyfriend when they should be preparing for the arrival of their little girl.

"Having to start over and having to do this again is just one thing that I don't want to deal with, especially with her coming at any moment," said Scott.

Jones said the two would have to get all new baby supplies. He said they had brand new stuff unpacked and set up for their newborn, but with it being exposed to insulation, he did not want to use it.

The good news was that the Tuscany Village Apartments has helped the young couple.

"Got us into a motel and came in this morning to talk to them and they immediately got us into a new apartment, no questions asked, no delays or anything," explained Jones.

News 9's crews spent the morning driving through Northwest Oklahoma City neighborhoods where they found debris like snapped trees, knocked down fences and some roof damage.
