Firefighters and Tulsa Animal Control were called out to a house fire in the 8300 block of South Pittsburg early Tuesday evening.

Authorities at the scene say the fire was sparked by a small box fan in a bedroom. The fan apparently threw off sparks that started the fire.

A neighbor told News On 6 that one of the homeowners ran over to their house asking them to call 911.

Firefighters had no problem putting out the fire but found numerous dogs in crates inside the home. They called in Animal Control; however, the woman who lived at the house put at least 10 dogs in her car and said she was taking them to the shelter.

There were no known injuries.

News On 6 has a crew at the scene and will have more information as it is confirmed.
