TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tuesday's overnight storms caused big time damage to several homes and businesses in Tulsa.

The winds were clearly too much for some power lines. Winds snapped poles at the base, laying over one entire line on to a business just down the street.

The business didn't receive much damage, but others weren't so lucky.

The school is still evaluating the damage today, but says it should be ready for the start of class.

John Khoury's home was hit by a lightning strike that sparked a fire on the roof around midnight.

"When something like this happens, you say ‘thank goodness I have my insurance,'" homeowner John Khoury said. "All of the sudden we heard a boom, kinda like a 500-pound bomb going off."
